July 11, 2015
The meeting was called to order at 4:09 pm., by President Bill Patterson.
The Lord’s Prayer was led by Chaplain Herman Copeland.
AnnouncementsRecognitions: Bill announced our new Board Members-At-Large: Dwight Bivens, Butch Wainwright, and Venus Johnson.
Minutes: The minutes were read and accepted.
Financial Report: Walter Holt reporting—A financial statement was passed out with a breakdown of the profits and losses for this quarter. Net income is: $7,293.19.
Care Committee: A care committee member expressed the need for prayer and concern for our class members who are in the care giving positions (mates, parents, or family members). This can be a very stressful situation. Bernard Slaughter expressed his gratitude to the committee for stepping in, in his absence, because of his health challenges. Dee Dee is still sending personalized cards to our members.
Fund Raiser Committee: -Casino Trip: Donald Hillsman is stepping down as chairperson of the committee because of some health issues. Joyce Dodson King and Shirley Cleveland Butler will coordinate the plans for the committee. Our last trip’s profit was approximately $1100.00. The next scheduled trip is for May, 2016. More details later!
Green & White Follies: Bill Patterson explained that the E-Board had discussed the Follies and concurred that it would require so much time, work, planning and know how, that it would not be cost efficient to endeavor. He suggested that we take it off of the table. The class body agreed.
54th Reunion—The reunion is to be celebrated in 2 more years. If our budget permits, we may be able to take a cruise or something different from the ordinary dinner and dance. Bill and committee will keep us informed of possibilities and suggestions. Provisions will be made for non-paid members to participate for an additional cost. Paid members will get a lower assessment because of the fund raisers, and updated dues paid.
School Mascot & Colors: The National Associations has come up with guidelines for the school mascot and colors. Bill passed out the Brief History of Henry McNeal Turner High School (1951) from the association. The colors are “Kelly Green and White” The Mascot was the “The Wolves”.
